I have very exciting news! There will be a new fuzzy member to the Fluffy Sheep household this spring. We are bringing home a little golden retriever pup the first weekend in April. I am so excited I am bouncing out of my seat just writing this post!
Our little girl is 8 days old today...just starting to open her eyes. I am not sure which one she is in the cuddly cuteness above, snuggling with her mama Phoenix We will meet the litter and get to choose her toward the end of March. You better believe I will show you guys those photos!
What does this have to do with quilting, you ask? Well, I'd like to give her a quilty name. I thought you guys might have a few ideas to share. It needs to be a two syllable name, but beyond that I am open. The past few days I've been thinking about calling her Kona. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
Aww, they are so cute. I don't have great ideas for names, but here are a few: Cutter, Scrappy, Stipple, Feed Dogs. (OK, that last one was not serious.)
ReplyDeleteI just looked down in your Label Cloud and found quite a few. batik, stitches, but moda is quite cute and not likely to be used by anyone else in the puppy world.
ReplyDeleteOne is cuter than the next. Congrats on the adventure. I don't have any suggestions, but Kona is not bad. I'll be watching for pictures of your pick of the litter.
ReplyDeleteEeeeeeek! We had a Golden Retriever when I was growing up. Such gorgeous, lovely, friendly dogs. Kona is good. Aurifil, Perle, and Fat Quarter don't quite do it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI rather like the name Hexie (obviously short for hexagon). I'm afraid that Kona reminds me of a coffee maker - but maybe that's my age!
ReplyDeleteOh my God that photo is soooo cute. As for names, I like Kona
ReplyDeleteWonderful news Cindy! I'm taking care of one most sweet Golden girl always when her mom is travelling. She is the most sweet and darling, but has also lots of energy and wants to eat too much. We saw Nero first time when he was 6 days! Your spring and summer will be so special! xTeje
ReplyDeleteOh congratulations Cindy!! That's fabulous news - they are the most beautiful and sweetest of dogs :-) I really like Kona - otherwise Bobbin?
ReplyDeleteKona is a great name but I feel like it matches a chocolate lab more than a golden. How about Bella? That happens to be my dog's name - though I didn't name her. :)
ReplyDeleteKona gets my vote. Although, I do like Karen's suggestion of Bella, too.
ReplyDeleteAh lovely news! We had a golden retriever growing up called Brandy, he was such a wonderful dog, and acted like an adorable puppy for many, many years! How about Lucie (as in Lucie Summers - ok bit of a long shot, but a cute name) Can't wait to hear what you decide!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! I like Kona and I was also thinking of Bella too.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'll get thinking of names and come back if inspiration strikes! It took me about five days to name (well, rename!) Archie after I got him...
ReplyDeleteI got hung up on sentence #2:
ReplyDeleteFuzzy Wuzzy was a bear
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
So Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy was he?
*ahem*
Kona and Moda are both fun suggestions :o)
Mauler, Destroyer (3 syllables but true), Batik, Trasher?
ReplyDeleteButler?
Cute! You know I'm prejudiced in favour! I thought Bella - italian for beautiful girl! But I thought Bobbin was a cute suggestion too! Or Thimble?
ReplyDeleteOh Kona is FAB. Lucky you. Poor wee clarkson!!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter got a pup five weeks ago. She named her Calico (she is a heeler cross and has the characteristic spots and markings) and we call her Callie. Nice when your kids have the fabric bug too!
ReplyDeleteAwww.. Say goodbye to your shoes! I lost my Patches last year but as yours is wholecolour, that wouldn't work.
ReplyDeleteSqueee! Finally! Kona's a great name but I think Moda's quite cute, too.
ReplyDeletenow I am just waiting for a sheep to move in as well. *gg* I can see you standing in the garden shouting "fluffy (get the) sheep"
ReplyDeletekona is nice. you also can call her block or modern.
I like Bella, Bobbin, and Hexie too - good luck finding a name :)
ReplyDeleteRic-rac.
ReplyDeleteHas Ryan finished at Susan's house yet?????
Waaaaaaaa! Adorable.
ReplyDeletewe had a golden retriever for 11 years. She was such a sweet dog.
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! My mother has a Golden boy-getting on in years now-called Chutney. Such a gentle giant. I like Kona, but think it sounds a bit boyish (possibly because it sounds like Konan!). Think Moda is more feminine and like Hexie too. I'd probably go for Jelly-Roll myself, but then I had a Bassett called Seamus The One-Eyed Wonder Dog, and then a pair of Bassetts called George & Mildred......xx
ReplyDeleteThe first name that came to mind was Rising (Phoenix Rising) but that was before I read that you wanted a quilty name. I really like Kona and Moda isn't bad either but in reality you may see her and think "Bobbin!" the minute you see her. One never knows. Curious...why 2 syllables?
ReplyDeleteAwww golden retrievers are gorgeous! That's my choice of dog when we get a pet for our family (waiting to buy our own home. Too hard with renting!) I think Bella - quilty and Italian for beautiful. Scrappy is cute too.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest Button, but I really like Bobbin. My issue with Kona is that most people who hear the name will assume it is a coffee reference not a fabric reference.
ReplyDeleteI like Kona, but agree that you think of a brown or chocolate colored dog. Bella was my first choice, meaning pretty girl in Italian which I'm sure she will be. I think it's getting lots of votes!
ReplyDeleteAww :) I think Kona and Moda are sweet. I like the suggestions of Bobbin, Button and Hexie too :) My only other thought was Riley (as in Blake), but depends whether you think of that as a boy name or a girl one :)
ReplyDeleteBobbin!! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest "Schymdt" but is it a boy puppy or a girl puppy?
Notion. um, Sequin. I like Hexie. Piece. Button. Stash. Bind.
i don't know!! This is too hard. You'll know who she is when you hold her.
