So I got home that night and made a little paper pieced travel coffee mug mug rug for the morning DJ. I knew his mug was orange with a black lid, so I tried to stick to that theme. I embroidered a little BH, too, as it's a Breakfast with Hector morning show/travel mug.
I quilted it in concentric diamonds echoing the embroidered piece. I really loved doing this, which bodes well for doing something similar on my Pezzy Pizazz quilt.
So the next morning, I stopped off at the radio station on my way to work and dropped in the mug rug. The hope was 1) to get a little air time to promote the shop and 2) to get a little coffee mug. I did get a bit of air time, which was super. I wish I could link you up to it, but for the life of me I can't get the radio station's website to load correctly. Doesn't matter. It was just a bit of fun...and great promotion for the shop. No mug, though.
Irish folks, would you tell me what radio stations you listen to? And at what times? It was so insanely easy to get a bit of air time here, I'd love to do the same with other stations hoping to advertise the shop a bit. Your help is totally appreciated.
I usually listen to 98FM or Today and usually early in the morning (7 till 8) and evening (6 to 7) while travelling to work and home
ReplyDeleteCan't believe they didn't give you a mug after all that effort, stingy of them I think!
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! Go you!!
ReplyDeletePersonally I am appalled they didn't give you a mug. Good thing you couldn't get the website to load...lol
ReplyDeleteCool mug rug! I am sure he will be happy now every morning. The work will be so much more fun
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, but I only listen in the car (FM2) and at home I have my app on the phone to listen to Austrian radio! So not a big help
Good idea but what a tight lot not to have given you a mug. Good that you got some free advertising though. Di x

ReplyDeleteWhy no mug? Maybe he needs a matching mug cozy, you could stop in again?
ReplyDeleteYou so should have got the travel mug!!! What do they want, something hand quilted while standing on your head on top of the Golden Gate Bridge?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to go bearing gifts! Great MR C! Jxo
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine why you didn't get a travel mug!! Very creative idea and wonderful marketing for you. I suppose in the end that is more valuable than a travel mug.
ReplyDeleteHey I like the idea of bombarding him with e-mails. What would the e-mail address be???
ReplyDeletenice design! i like it!! i normallylisten to the today fm. but probably not for next two weeks because no school run.
ReplyDeleteI really like the design you came up with.
ReplyDeleteI listen to Ian Dempsey before school drop off and then listen to Ray D'Arcy - both on Today FM. Ian was doing a spot on people starting their own business for a while - don't know if he is still doing it. Very mean of Hector not to send you on a mug!
ReplyDeleteGreat mug rug! It's not as if they are giving away thousands of dollars- so of course you should have got a mug, for all your efforts!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you got some air time for FS but wish you got your mug too!
ReplyDeleteNo mug? miserable so and so's! I can feel a campaign coming on!
ReplyDeleteFab idea - but no mug!!!?? Ungrateful sod!
ReplyDeleteI usually listen to the Dublin radio stations. 98 FM and 104Fm
ReplyDeleteI do head over to Kildare FM to listen to what crazy traffic is happening on the N7...(there was a mattress in the right lane this week...so random!)
I'm sure it would be no harm trying...got nothing to loose right!
ROFL, nutter! Hope it brings you some custom, though can't believe they didn't give you a mug too!
ReplyDeleteThat's really creative! I bet he was jazzed to get it. Best wishes on your getting more air time.
