Check this off both my Handmade Christmas list AND my Winter Sewing Goals list! I finally (FINALLY) made a cover for my brother's mixer. He asked for one ages ago and I kind of procrastinated because circles are not always my friend. Anyway, here it is Christmas so it was time to get a move on. What do you think?
I just love this line from Monaluna. I just hope its not too girly. His kitchen is light yellow and his pantry red and white. I looked all over for red and white fabric that I liked, but I continually returned to this Monaluna goodness. Oh, just go with the inspiration that is moving you.... This will still be OK in a red and white pantry, I think.
Now, I wanted a fabric with retro mixers or cupcakes all over it, but he wanted me to tone it down. Anyway, Monaluna also has this fab woodland print that I love. He's a big hiker, so this seemed just perfect! But it was EXACTLY what he asked me not to do. So, it's the lining now and the entire thing is reversable. I hope he flips it every now and then to get a little show of this fabric too.
Here's hoping he likes it :)
If you want to make one of your own, I used this tutorial as a guide and then kind of made it up as I went along.
Really cute! I'm sure you bother will love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! I don't even have a mixer but I want a cover just like that x
ReplyDeleteSo great!! I'm sure he'll love it! I really need to make a mixer cover for myself, so I may try this next year. But I think I would have to go with the retro kitchen stuff or something fun like that!
ReplyDeleteHe WILL love it! And if he is even a teeny bit doubtful, suggest one of your blogging friends will have it for a sewing machine cover!! It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love your mixer cover for your brother! And I love that you made it reversible!! thank you for posting this b/c as soon as all the holiday gift making is over, I wanted to treat myself to making a patchwork mixer cover with some whimsical chicken fabric that I have (with coordinating eggs and chicken wire and B & W checkerboard)-- I was going to use a variation on a sewing machine cover tute, but your link will be so much better (esp. since it sits out on our counter all the time). I think he will be very pleased!!
ReplyDeleteOh Cindy! It is super cute. Thanks for the link to the tutorial. My mixer really needs a cover.
ReplyDeleteYay for double list ticks, and hope your brother gets over his aversion to 'girly' fabric to let those bears out for a bit :oD
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Reversible is such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHow could he not love it, it's fantastic! Well done!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas!!!!
It sure looks great! Both sides !
ReplyDeleteVery very cute! Now, I just need a mixer so I can make me a cover!
ReplyDeleteSo great! Love that it's reversible! The fabrics are great :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks brilliant - is it me, or do Americans like to cover all their appliances? - I have seen numerous toaster covers - I don't understand!!
ReplyDeleteMind you - all my appliances are still in boxes in a cupboard, so I can't talk! xxx
Great idea! Love the fabrics! I'm sure your bro will love it. Jxo
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks great!
