I. Am. In. Love.

Can you say that about your own quilt?  I am not sure it is socially acceptable.  I should say I am "quite pleased" or something, but this quilt top makes my heart sing.


It was a bit of heart ache this weekend, but working through my "issues" was really quite satisfying.  

When you saw this quilt top last, the center block was not the right size. It had to be trimmed down and the navy border added before adding on the square in a square border.  That was easy enough to do.  The square in a square strips fit PERFECTLY.  Glorious.


I then added on the green border of FMF Eyelets.  My other half suggested I go with a green for this border and I think he was right!  I was going to go yellow, but I think I will save that for the binding.  This border used every. last. piece. of Eyelet in my stash.  It's bitter sweet.


I went on to create my own paper piecing template (using this tute) and stitched a scrappy LV triangle border alternating with saturated "monochromatic" scraps.  I was pleased as punch....until I realized I mis-measured and my border was 1 1/2 inches too long for the green border!!!  Oh, the frustration.  On went another scrappy rectangular border and the triangles fit perfectly.  My size issues are sorted for now, but the next border is going to be pretty tricky size-wise.

Another three sides of triangles to go and then four corner stones to finish off this 'round of borders.  I can not wait to get stitching again!

    No, it is totally acceptable to be in love with your own quilt. Any quilt is a major achievement and when it has all turned out gloriously it is right to be happy!

    You should definitely love this quilt, it's amazing. Your lv is working beautifully and I love your triangles. Would a skinny strip border help to increase the size so that you then have a not so complicated sizing to base your next border on? Looks fab!

    I love it too!! And I can feel your low volume love starting to shine through :-). Adding those skinny scrappy rainbow borders is such a great addition to this quilt. It's really binding everything together. So while it may be painful and full of annoying quilt maths, it looks amazing and is so very very worth it.
    And as for the green eyelet, it is juuuuuust right. So yes, sad that it's all gone, but gone to a better place. And you still get to keep it! It's just filling it's purpose by being a Quilt instead of being folded up on a shelf being fabric :-)

    It's spooky sometimes the sympatico thing, dude. I'm on the computer to blog my own medallion progress and I've just added a FMF border! After nearly going with yellow. And I'm contemplating a big (6 inches) next border of friendship stars, I think. I wasn't sure about such a big border but yours is LUSH! And I cannae count, either. I had it all perfectly measured but forgot I add borders on BOTH sides so I'm finished at 42 in instead of 40. But it works out better so was a happy accident for a change!!!

    What a generous giveaway! I have been reading blogs for about 5 years now. Yarn Harlot was my gateway drug. I came upon her blog by following a link from an article.     I love it too, of course you can love your own quilt. It's good too as it is teaching you that thing, measure twice, cut once. I would be making all the same mistakes, in the hurry to see how the piecing is coming out

    And why wouldn't you love such a gorgeous quilt? The narrow strip border on the 3 sides works really well too. I actually thought you were only putting on one row of triangles and thought that looked pretty cool too.

    OH.My.Gosh! I love it too! Seriously I think the problem of size was solved well and the scrappy border adds to it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the border you are working on now! It makes such a statement! I am stuck for the moment on mine...but yours is very inspiring!
