As you may know, I have a love/hate relationship with my Birdie Stitches blocks. I love, love, loved them in Jan through May, but then became a little disillusioned in June through December. I kept stitching because I can not stop once I commit, but with each month I was getting more and more unsure what I would do with the finished quilt.
When December came, I finished off my last block and happily put them all away in a little stack. I was thinking I would give the entire stack to Project Linus as I really think they will make a great quilt for a pre-teen girl.
But then with a bit of nudging from you guys, promises that I'll fall in love once I finish the top AND with Sarah's Winter Stitching Goals, I FINALLY sat down to piece the top of Birdie Stitches.
You know, I'm pleased with it right now. Not pleased enough to layer and quilt it, but I like it enough that I would absolutely think about coming back in a few months to finish it off as a gift (or even still for Project Linus). You guys were right...new happiness did come with the finished quilt top. Thanks for the nudge! xx

Good for you Cindy! You have done well to persevere....And I think it looks lovely
Now how about finishing it in the next quarter or before! ?? Nudge, nudge
Congrats on finishing the top! I think it turned out really cute, and love the colors. :o) xo
I think it looks lovely Cindy, don't be too hard on yourself. It will be even nicer when you quilt it, you will see!.
This is really beautiful C! Good on you for getting this far! It will look even more special once it's quilted and snuggly! The bright yellow border really makes this a happy, sunny quilt! Jxo
It's looking lovely! Well done for getting it pieced :)
It's lovely Cindy! I've been following the progress of all these birdie stitches and it's great to see the result.
It does look lovely and will make a little person very very happy xxx
Your quilt is really sweet! It is easier to love when it is a top rather than a random pile of blocks! Whoever ends up with it, will be very happy, I'm sure!
Cindy it looks utterly wonderful!! So cute and I love the yellow. Great finish :)
Now don't you feel better? ;-)
A finish tends to make me smile too!
I love the sashing Cindy! You're doing better than me, I have jan-june stitched and pieced, 3 blocks made up for july-sept to embroider and the fabric still to be pieced for oct-dec! I am definatly out of love with mine.
Dont know how you could fall out of love with that, is so pretty! And such a lot of work has gone into the stitches!
Yay, glad you finally made it into a whole top, it looks fab!
I'm glad you finished it - it looks wonderful cindy! We all have that stack of tops unquilted because you need to just "step away" -- give it time, you may fall back in love.. or not - either way, great job for seeing it through and be proud :)
I am glad that you finished it. It always feels good to get it done.
It looks lovely, I'm glad you persevered with it!
I like the bright, cheerful look to the quilt top!! Congrats on finishing it even when you felt lukewarm about it.
This will make the most wonderful gift! I am so glad you finished. It is such a beautiful quilt top. Bravo! :)
well done on finishing it. I started mine but also got disillusioned with the blocks, so never went any further
Yay! Congratulations! Very chuffed for you :-)
Ah ... another UFO to the stack! I am struggling to get as far as you!
I totally LOVE this quilt!! The top looks wonderful all pieced together with the sashing. How about this: you give the quilt to me and I'll make a different on for Project Linus?? I'm glad you're at least feeling better about it-- good for you for sticking with it to this point (and maybe after another break, the love will be re-kindled-- you know what they say: Absence makes the heart grow fonder). Don't know when you changed your header (b/c I haven't been doing much blog reading since the holidays) but it looks GREAT!!
top is great - love the yellow binding - really happy and really suits :)
That really came out cute! I don't know why, but I really lost steam after May and am still working on my June block, of my own design. You have inspired me to get back to my birdies.
