This is my first month in the Care Circle of Do.Good Stitches and I am overly excited. I have been watching these beautiful blocks on flickr for months now waiting for my turn and it's finally come! We have a fantastic group of ladies, so I look forward to giggling with them and learning as we go.
This month we were to make two starflower blocks from a tutorial by Modify Tradition using a white background with red and aqua petals. Humm...red is abundant in my stash so no problem there. But aqua? A little more difficult for me.
I went for a red solid here as the aqua print (which HAD to be used due to my limitations) was a bit busy. I like this block a whole lot.
This tutorial really looks best with non-directional prints, but the combination of aqua and non-directional was just too much to ask of my little stash. So I really REALLY tried to get my HSTs oriented appropriately so all of my aqua drops were spinning in the same direction....worked for two petals, but not the other two! Argh. Still, much to my surprise, it doesn't bother me much in this block. I think the little white dots dazzle me to distraction :)
Well, Care Circle ladies, I hope they're up to your standard and I can't wait to see the pieced top. It's going to be spectacular.

Wow! Can't believe you're already finished your blocks!! They do look fab, it's a great block and great colour combination.
I still have 3 kids at home, husband went back to work today so it's still a bit chaotic here. That's my excuse anyway (and the big debate over Kona white)!!
dxx
I love the starflower block. Yours are lovely but the second one is totally scrumptious!
Yup great looking blocks Cindy! And just look at those perfect points!
The blocks look really good. I really love the second one, but I always do love dots :)
Love them both!
Hey, don't over think it! They look great! And you don't need another excuse to buy some more (aqua) fabric!
I think your block is absolutely beautiful!!
These look fab! I've also struggled to find a good variety of aquas for my stash - I have that raindrop one too, and it comes out frequently lol
They are beautiful. Great job Cindy!
nice fabric choices!
wonderful, eye-catching blocks!
They look great and I love the fabric choices, especially the rain drops!
So honored and happy and excited to be in the Care circle with you and the other wonderful ladies! I love the block that Karen has chosen and your blocks are beauties. Mine are going to have to wait until I get back at the weekend but can`t wait to get started!
Lovely blocks Cindy!
Gorgeous blocks! Love red & aqua together. Jxo
I love these xxx
I love your stars, especially the top one! I wish I had the confidence to join up with a group like do. Good Stitches - maybe in a few years! ;)
Looking good!
Cindy these look wonderful- I'm hoping to have mine finished tomorrow, & if they look half as good as yours I'll be delighted!
Your blocks look great with the bright colors and patterns!
These are great Cindy! I can't wait to see this quilt finished, it's going to be great!
