To get to know a few folks attending, I signed up for the Name Tag Swap on flickr. Luckily, I have been assigned the most fab partner ever! I can not wait to create something great for her.
So, I started searching for a little inspiration on flickr.
There are so many great examples out there to draw inspiration. I love the hand stitching in "Mandy" and "Amy". I love the colors in "Diane", "Faith", "Susan", "Lynne" and "Jeni". I love the attention to the blog in "Jennifer", "Faith" and "Kate".
Here is the question, do you guys have a favorite style? What would you want in a name tag? What floats your boat when it come to a name tag? Careful what you say...you might just find yourself walking around London with it strapped to your front!

I'm so envious - two of my favourite things London and a quilting retreat! Alas I can only sigh and wish NZ wasn't half the world away!! The name badges are so much fun - I'm enjoying reading the different ideas people have.
No hope of that, unless I win the lottery! But cos you asked...I like simple, not fussy, fewer colours than too many (can't have it clashing with my wonderful wardrobe!!!) and love embroidery! Now, off to buy a lottery ticket!!
I have been allocated my partner too. It is difficult to decide what to do. I have an idea though..... Di xo
These are lovely examples C! I really like the last 2 especially! Jxo
I feel a little sick every time I see these tags of perfection. I am hoping mine comes out non floppy and readable.
I love the Fresh Lemons one and Jeni's.
I really love the ones that look like peoples blog headers. I guess I don't really have a logo though so its a bit different for me. If you have me, you know what I like... rainbow brights etc. Oooh, a stitched version of the circle of geese would be really cute!
I'm guessing that you have been partnered with one of your followers! But it's not me as unfortunately I can't go. But I like ones that have their blog name on too- as sometimes that means more to me than a name.
My favourites are 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. But it doesn't make a blind bit of difference because I know I am not your partner. :-(
Jealous me, wish I was going too! Hopefully next time if they run it again.
Lovely names tags there!

Well I am going to be a bit controversial(?) and say that I want something that reflects "going to London in June with my quilting friends" and NOT an owl!
Practically speaking I want something that can be put on a lanyard if necessary depending on what I am wearing!
(I can be as honest as I want because there's no London trip in my future, unfortunately!) I really like the one dead center and the one directly below it. They're all really cute, but in my opinion, the most prominent thing on a nametag should be the name. Some of them were a little hard to read and I'd be a bit disconcerted if people started leaning in to peer at my chest! I also like the idea of having the blog (or podcast!) name on the tag too--or email address/screen name. I know people better by those than their actually names. I like Flying Blind's idea about having something that could also be attached to a lanyard--that would be a handy little trick. And now I'm starting to get ideas for a fun guild challenge--a nametag swap!
I will see you in London. :) I agree the name should be easily read and I like the idea that if the person has a blog or business that it is also referenced.
I feel very safe, since I won't be in London (SIGH!) but I think the greatest name tags are 1. clearly readable (in this case name and blog) 2. reflect the blog people. Your examples are all awesome!
I'll go with something that reflects the zanier side of me (oh wait, that would imply a sensible side...) and the event we're attending.
Great mosaic - I needed that inspiration as I have one to make too!
I think it is good to show a name and blog name as they are not always connected and photos of people on blogs do not necessarily help to id the blogger you know!
Love the stitching, bright colours
Thanks for including mine from Sewing Summit. I think I will use it again this year.
If that would be too easy to do, I'd like to have that for my conference as our conference badges because it would be cool. What design can be great for my name? what do you think?
I think they all look fabulous!
