Selvage Blocks for Miles

Each morning while I brush my teeth, I thumb through IG to see what creativity I have missed while I slept.  What inspiration waits for me?  It is a great way to wake up.  One morning, Craftsy posted an advertisement for this pattern that immediately occupied my brain.  I could not shake it, so I bought the pattern thinking that would scratch the itch.  But no.

Although I see myself using different methods to make these blocks, I love the idea of a full quilt of selvage vines.  I started stitching a few tester blocks at the Brit Bee weekend retreat and fell in love.

I have now finished 23 of the 42 blocks I need.  It shocks me how heavy they are and how they eat up the selvage strips.  I have enough selvages for another 5-10 blocks, so I will have to finish a few other projects to increase my stash.  That's OK.  This can be a slow burner.  I'll just keep stitching!

You have tonnes of selvage. I never good at collecting them. However I can't throw away tiny scraps. If I got some pretty ones, I wil send them to you.

Ah such a superb pattern, I have masses of selvedges ready for one day. I hadn't thought about the weight of something like that though. Keep stitching! xx

Very cool! I never remember to save mine, or, if I do, where I've put them in the stash, but I love this idea!

Love the blocks as they are as well as in the vinew pattern. It's going to be gorgeous. I wish I could remember to save my selvages. I think because I do so much EPP and am working with smaller pieces of fabric I tend to leave the selvage on the fabric as long as possible so I'll always know what it is and then when it comes to the final use it gets cut and forgotten. I need to come up wiht a new system to save them I think:

It's a lovely pattern! Why don't you put out a call on IG for more selvedges? It's a generous community out there! Jxo

They're gorgeous!

P.S. How on earth do you scroll through IG while you brush your teeth without getting toothpaste all over your phone?!! Am I missing a trick when brushing my teeth?!
