Community Quilt Kicks Off

Preparing for the Community Quilt has been quite the effort.  Thank goodness for the generous donations from many of you; without them this would not have started at all.  Once that hurdle was overcome, there were lots and lots (and lots) of little background rectangles that had to be cut.  It has been completely worth every bit of it!

I started sewing together our little 2 inch squares into doublets and triplets, and then started attaching pieces of the background.  There will be 370+ of these little strips in the end and I am about 1/4 of the way there.  It's a good start.  Thank goodness for chain piecing as its making life a whole lot easier.  Anyway, the Community Quilt is off and running and I could not be happier.

In other news, this fabric (Kokka Trefle) arrived in the mail today!  I love frogs so this hopped (har har) out at me while I was shopping for my Japanese Imports Swap fabric.  Now, I have a small stash and I tend to buy only with specific projects in mind.  That went out of the window pretty quickly when I saw this.  I have no plans at all for its use, but it makes me happy.  Any suggestions?

As usual on Tuesday, I'm linking up with Quiltstory for Fabric Tuesday.

Love the froggie fabric too! Maybe a princess quilt with a little froggie square on it somewhere? Or it could be part of the piecing on the back of a princess quilt. Not sure since I don't know how much you got.

Your community quilt looks amazing even if you "just" did a quarter. That reminds me to go on with my quilt!

The froggies are so cute. I think I know who in my family would love to have a cover for her passport *gg* even if I am no longer allowed to call her my little frog ....

Love that fabric!! How are you doing for fabric for the community quilt? Let me know if you want some more scraps or particular colours, I can pop them in with the swap charms!

I think it would be fabulous as a bag lining/accent!

Chain piecing is fabulous isn't it:):)

Froggies are sweet!

I love the froggy fabric! I actually saw it and almost picked it out as a possible for the swap but the one that I decided on eventually was one I just kept going back to.

I love Melindas idea of co-ordinating it with a princess type fabric/quilt.

Froggies are cute - how much did you buy? - I'd use sparingly - maybe a sunglasses case first on account of their googly eyes!

The community quilt seems like a great idea. Glad you got all 28 for your fabric swap. I was too busy last week to contemplate it and left it to fate to see if there were any spots left after we were done with our visitors - and there weren't so next time I shall have to hop on the band wagon sooner.
