I was digging through my Mom's closet for a sleeping bag this weekend and what did I find? QUILTS! My mom is not a quilter, but is a great appreciator and supporter of quilting. It really does not surprise me to find quilts hiding in there, but I was awfully happy to take them out and have a good look! I was not a quilter when I lived at home, so to look at these again with new eyes was fun.
She bought these in the early 1970s. They are hand stitched and hand quilted and are absolutely spectacular. I pasted below images of the entire quilt, a close-up to show the fabric and an image of the back to show the quilting. I wish there were labels attached to get more information, but no luck. I thought you may like to have a peek too. Enjoy!
Thanks to my Dad and brother for modeling the quilts. They thought I lost my marbles when I asked them to hold these out in the back yard. They are good sports, though :)
