Birdie Stitches: October

I love October.  I love the leaves changing color, the crisp weather and Halloween.  It is possibly my favorite month of the year.  So, here is this month's Birdie Stitches block:

Its kind of cute, but I something is missing.  Something that captures the fall season.  A little flash or color?  I can not figure out what it is, but am open for suggestions if you have one to share?

I am overwhelmed by the number of folks joining into FMQ Friday.  I would like to respond to all of you who took the time to comment, but life is getting in the way.  We just had a great weekend with my family in Dublin (without internet).  I only get to see them 3 times a year, so this was a really great weekend for us.  Anyway, I will try my best to respond to you today!

a smattering of leaves blowing across the sky/above the pumpkins. Use a white thread to stitch some "wind" wavy lines - it shows but doesn't really show, if that makes sense.

I like the idea of Leaves that Bree suggested. I know the other blocks have had quite a lot of 'filling' detail so this one does seem a little bear. Im only just finishing off Junes block. I am determined to be done by christmas!

It is darling. A bright embroidered border might be nice.

I love October too, and your block is soooo cute! How about a few more twinkling stars in the space top left? Jxo

Glad you had a good weekend x

I reckon a couple of falling leaves in the top left space or under the birdy's feet would look sweet x

I love the leaves idea. Maybe a scarecrow standing behind the pumpkins? Or perhaps some "hay' along the bottom? These are just so adorable. I didn't find them till August...So I am saving and will do them in 2012!....

Very cute. Maybe some falling leaves from the top left corner?

You need a mini witch on her broomstick flying past the moon!

Birdie block is gorgeous! My first thought was same as susan, tiny witch on broomstick flying off! Goodness knows how you stitch that!

I think it looks great!
What about some grass around pumpkins.. The leaves on the ground is a good idea.. I like the white on white quilting for some "wind".

Nice job, and I'm so impressed that you have this month's block finished already! I'm very nearly done with July...

I might add a bat or two. I've had bats on the brain lately, since I recently had one flying around my livingroom. Eeeek!
