While we were chatting away I basted Twinkle Twinkle. I figured the hotel had a huge clean floor space, didn't have little cat/dog "helpers" AND I'd be entertained with the chat to pass the time. My little plan worked brilliantly. Gave the hotel staff a little giggle, too.
Annette brought along her husband's knee pads to save my poor bones on the hard lobby floor. They were FANTASTIC! I need to get a pair myself.
There was more than enough space once I (kind of) re arranged their furniture. Bold, Cindy. Bold.
In the end, I had a quilt basted and ready to go. I am currently hand quilting with perle cotton inside the stars, echo quilting 1/4 inch inside the scrappy bits. I am so completely in love with this process I don't see myself machine quilting another quilt in the near future. I am nearly done the 21 stars now (4 left!) and will then move onto the squares and diamonds between the stars. There's a plan formulating of how to tackle them, but I'll need to test it out first. That's the news ladies. Quilting away happily here in my part of the world :)

That is bold!! I wonder how many quilts have been basted in a lobby?! So brilliant! It's looking great, the colours are so bright against the blue. I totally agree about the hand quilting, I know I will do some on the machine but I LOVE the whole process of quilting by hand :)
Oooh you bold thing! What a great idea - can't believe they let you do that! Twinkle is looking fab ♡♡
Great idea love the quilt. I also love hand quilting its so relaxing nice to be able to meet up as a group.
You moved the furniture? That's hilarious!! Bold Cindy!! I love your starry quilt and agree about the hand quilting - I just need to get me some perle and then that will be my summer quilting :-)
Great idea- I'd totally rent a big floor for basting locally.... people with lovely floors should offer them by the hour ;)
Looks fab Cindy!
LOL! look at you! will you eventually be converting staff into quilters? It looks fab, I love the blue background.
Live performance art.
I love your quilt! The colors, the pattern, everything!
What advice did you get on the stretching your neck issue? I stopped handquilting because of my neck. I think I got over enthusiastic about handquilting and did too much for a long period of time. Anyway, take care and keep going. Its going to be awesome!
Great idea and your quilt looks so fantastic I am sure everyone was just happy to see it. You are a fast hand quilter, if you love it, the finished look is wonderful.
I'm loving those cute shoes too! Bold girl you are indeed. Looks beautiful & I can hardly wait to see how it all quilted up. Lovely!!
Love the layout Cindy. all the stars dotted around looks really cool.
Gorgeous layout! I definitely could do with basting a quilt in a hotel lobby!

OMG that is so funny!!! Did you ask first???
It looks great! I so could have done with those knee pads yesterday - after 3 1/2 hours crawling around on the hard loft floor basting and marking up the humungous Irish Chain inspired quilt, my knees are killing me today!
It looks absolutely beautiful. Love your bold arrengement with plain squares. I have got four big tables in my studio, so no more crawling for me!!
Loving the layout you've chosen! Great use of your spacious surroundings! Jxo
I'm so happy to see this quilt come together before my eyes. It is another fabulous star status quilt! Bold you for moving everything around ! Hope it was clean under all those chairs too!
Priceless....
Ingenious! We're house hunting at the min, and a floor for basting is on my wishlist!
