Japanese Fabric Import Swap: Ireland

Do you love those cute little Japanese prints?  We all do!  Want to play along in a centralized swap?  Well join us!

For the 1 meter of super-cute Japanese print fabric you contribute, you will get a diverse charm pack in return.  What a great way to add a bit of splash and color to your next project or brighten your stash!

Let me start describing the swap by giving credit where credit is due.  This swap is heavily based on one organized by Anne Marie from Gen X Quilters, reproduced here with her permission.  Do jump over and see what a great success it was!

To play, each swap participant will contribute 1 meter of imported Japanese fabric (unwashed and 100% cotton).  Be sure you choose a print that will suit 5 inch squares, so a large print may not be your best option.

You will cut the fabric into fifty-six 5 inch x 5 inch squares using Elizabeth Hartman's method before sending it to me.  Wrap the fabric in a plastic baggie for protection and pop it in the mail.  Once the charm squares have arrived, I will sort them and return a charm pack to you filled with great variety.  What fun in your mail box!   Include also a little note with your name, mailing address and email address on the front.  On the reverse, record the fabric manufacturer and the print name and color when appropriate.  Include also a self-addressed envelope so I can return the charm pack to you.

I will ask that you pay for the postage of your return package by Pay Pal before I ship your charm pack to you.  I am estimating the cost of shipping to be 2.70 euro within Ireland and 3.50 euro to the UK, but we can test it before the swap actually begins.

Sign up starts today and will close when 28 people have registered.  It's really easy to join in...just leave a comment below.  Be sure you are not a No Reply Blogger or be sure to include your email in your comment.  Sign up will close on 30 June or when we have reached 28 participants.   If 30 June comes and we have not reached 28 participants, we can shrink the swap to match the number of entrants (i.e. 14 people and 1/2 meter of fabric, etc).  Charms must be mailed to me by 20 July for their return to you the 2nd week of August.

Participation is limited to folks in Ireland and the UK only.  I created a Flickr group for us here and there's a button on the right of the Fluffy Sheep Quilting home page that I encourage you to take.  Please spread the word - the more folks who join, the more fabric you get!  I suggest you post a photo of your fabric in our Flickr group so we can avoid duplicate prints.  Check the Flickr group to see what other folks purchased before going on your shopping spree!

Come on, join in!
