One Block Down....

...many more to go.  Still, this one rather large block is a great accomplishment as it is my first time sewing curves with the view to making a quilt top.  I've now semi-tackled the fear.

In the past I've made one Retroflower block and two little baby quilts for Blankets of Love with a DP block, but they were easy to get my head around as they were quite small.  This quilt, however, will grow to a twin size and is therefore slightly overwhelming to me.  That being said, Leanne has been an awesome cheerleader and with the completion of this one gigantic block my Mod Pop quilt seems do-able.  Whew.  Now I just have to get serious and start stitching.

If you have a minute, hop over to the Mod Pop QAL flickr group.  There you'll see many variations in fabric choices for this pattern.  They will really get your creative juices flowing!

I recently sewed my first curves as part of the Groove QAL. The first ones were a little challenging, but once I'd gotten the hang of it the next sixty went pretty smoothly. I pinned every single one thoroughly, which worked for me but was very time consuming.

Love this mod pop block, I hope to have the chance to make a few as well!

Awesome job on the curves! And I'm very impressed that you're tackling such a scary (at least to me!) technique. :)

Now that you have finished this beautiful block you can see that curves are over rated as far as difficulty. You have done a beautiful job.

Nice curves on the block! I can relate to how you feel about the curves as they can sometimes give you grief, but your block turned out great. One block at a time and you'll have the size you want ;-)
Have a good week,
Judy

It looks AWESOME and well done you for doing it! You are a few steps ahead of me... So far I've only purchased the
Stern and contemplated fabric choices. But I'm waaaay chi keening out of the next step. Did you order the templates or did you make your own?

I really love your version of this! That pop of green pleases me immensely. lol I can't wait to see this as the full quilt!

I like that your focus fabric is just one color. I'm sort of second guessing my choice to do patchwork fabric for both the background and focal, but it is way too late now.

Mine is also going to be twin sized, and it's crazy how big this thing gets, but also it really does come together quickly, because the blocks are so big!
